The Haus of Comedy Internship Program invites community members to help build a vibrant comedy theater while gaining hands-on experience in live performance, education, and event production. This program is designed for people who want to help build Haus of Comedy while deepening their connection to the improv community.

Interns support the day-to-day operations of the theater while earning credits toward improv training and developing skills in comedy, theater operations, leadership, and community building.
This program supports Haus of Comedy’s mission to empower people of all backgrounds to play, grow, and connect through inclusive, high-quality comedy and performance experiences—cultivating laughter, creativity, and community in a vibrant space where joy and personal growth thrive.

Interns earn class credits through their work at the theater. Credits can be applied toward Haus of Comedy classes.
1 hour worked = 1 class credit hour
Credits cannot be used for:
Guest instructor workshops
Master classes
However, interns receive ~20% off guest workshops and master classes.
Credits apply to class tuition only
Credits are non-transferable
Credits are subject to class availability
Credits expire after the set expiration period (12 months)
Internship participation does not guarantee class placement, show casting, or employment

Interns support the theater through operational roles such as:
Show Operations
House Management
Audience seating
Ticket scanning
Guest assistance
Concessions & Merch
Snack and beverage sales
Merch table support
Tech Booth
Lighting
Sound
Projections
Cue assistance
Marketing
Flyer distribution
Social media assistance
Photo/video capture
Event posting
Education Support
After completing 12 internship hours, interns become eligible to assist with:
improv classes
workshops
educational programming
This ensures teaching assistants are familiar with the space and culture before supporting instruction.
time commitment
Interns commit to 12 hours per quarter. Quarters are January - April, May - September, October- December.
This averages to roughly 3 hours per month, which keeps the program accessible while ensuring meaningful participation.
Interns sign up for available shifts through a shared signup system. Shifts are posted in advance and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Typical shifts range from 2–4 hours.
quarterly evaluation
Intern participation is reviewed at the end of each quarter.
If an intern does not complete the minimum required hours:
they may be moved to inactive intern status
inactive interns cannot sign up for new shifts
previously earned credits remain available until they expire
Interns who become inactive may rejoin the program in a future quarter if space allows.

Interns are part of the Haus of Comedy community and help create a welcoming, inclusive, and joyful environment for audiences, students, and performers alike. All interns will agree to theAs a condition of participation in Haus of Comedy programming, all interns are expected to comply with the Haus of Comedy community guidelines. Anyone found in violation of these guidelines may be removed from the program and may have their credits revoked.Through their work, interns help bring the theater’s mission to life by supporting a space where creativity, laughter, and personal growth thrive.
Interns must also review and agree to the policies outlined in the Haus of Comedy Performer Policies, Waivers, and Reference document, including:
community guidelines (as stated above)
reporting procedures
liability waiver
photo and video release
These policies apply to all participants working with Haus of Comedy programs.
Participation in the internship program does not create an employee-employer relationship with Windhaus Improv, LLC DBA Haus of Comedy.
